Menswear for Spring / Summer 2016 #SS16: Style Lessons, Likes & Loves

The middle months of the year is a great time for Menswear, Men's Fashion and Men's Style. The weather is warmer and the fashion press, buyers, fashionistas and bloggers get to visit London, Florence, Milan, Paris and New York within a matter of weeks. Nice work. Any summary of this season is fraught with danger.  However, here are the things that I learned, liked and loved.

London #LCM
Burberry Prorsum's #SS16 "All Laced Up" Collection was exciting. Will tough guys really want to wear lace blouses? Still, sublime work by Mr Bailey. The leather bags, accessories and tassel loafer shoes stood out. Thomas Pink presented a dynamic collection of great colours and patterns. Mr Hare launched his ready-to-wear in strong primary colours. Very wearable, but the shoes (mainly loafers) did the talking. The Jermyn Street St James Menswear Fashion Show was ground-breaking. It presented  premium and luxury brands free to the public. Long may this public access continue.
Pretty Green fizzed with cool at Gibson Studios with it's summer-festival inspired looks.

Florence   #PittiUomo
It was peacocking season. We saw the return of the tassel loafer and white trousers. It was also good to see New York duo Korey-Francois' vibrant colours and sharp tailoring refresh formal street style.

Milan   #MFW
Moncler Gamme Bleu's colours, designs and concept linger long in the mind. Thom Browne is on fine form. Versace, Armani and Missoni led the pack with sleak sharp collections. Missoni's colours made you want to skip Autumn/Winter. Gucci was too retro.  Etro continues to excite, Zegna too.

Paris   #PFW
Kim Jones won us over at Louis Vuitton with japanese-inpsired mastery. Zayn Malik and Nick Jonas occupied the front row. Balmain hit the ball out of the ball park with it's intricate designs. Givenchy and Saint Laurent were on point, with memorable, highly coveted collections.

New York  #NYFWM
New York Fashion Week Men's had it's first outing and pulled it off with ease. Highlights included Public School's fusion of tailoring and streetwear in monochrome. Elsewhere, the bomber jacket, manifesting formally and informally, reigned supreme.
