The Bomber Jacket has truly come of age. The humble flight jacket is a special slice of Americana, practical, substance over style (but still a timeless style indicator) and with a kick-ass military heritage. It has become much-loved by skinheads, punks, ravers, skaters, goths, jocks - and the guy next door. In the British Royal Air Force, Bomber Command was the home of elite pilots, rugged and resilient, whose motto was "Strike Hard Strike Sure." They won the war. Yet, a further evolution has taken place. The Bomber Jacket now transcends the fragile borders of luxury, premium, global catwalks, the British High Street and the Main Street. It has become the 24-hour garment, dressed-up, dressed-down and a mainstay of smart-casual. Spring and Summer 2015 saw the Bomber Jacket trending on the streets of London (#LCM) and New York (#NYFWM). In 2016/2017, the trend continues. This is just the start. Prepare for lift off.
In celebration of the #bomberjacket, we present #BomberCommand for AW15 FW15. Showcasing Bomber Jackets by Savile Row's Kent and Curwen, Ted Baker and Diverso London. Styled and Produced by Nick Horne. Photographed by Theodore Farrell.
